2021.12.05 08:06 Jimmy_Popkins Dopamine regulation issues

I have this weird phenomenon that whenever I experience a release of dopamine, be it through an orgasm, drinking or weed, I feel fine for half a day, but then my motivation and mood plummet for at least 24 hrs. Stuck in brain fog. My speech is noticeably worse (limited vocabulary, quieter, etc.).
It can take between 3-5 days for me to feel leveled out again. I hardly ever drink, and I quit weed years ago. The orgasms though… that’s just a cruel neurotransmitter game my brain is playing on me.
I’d love to understand the mechanism with my dopamine release. It doesn’t get released when I work on projects that used to make me feel good (and still would if I didn’t procrastinate them). Instead I go for the dopamine rush and as a consequence need 3-5 days to be back at baseline.
This year my psychiatrist put me on Sertraline (an SSRI). It was supposed to help with social anxiety, lower cortisol / prolactin and give me the motivation to work of an ever-growing stack of projects I’ve been procrastinating. But Sertraline took away any remaining motivation and made me bed-ridden for the entire summer, even on the lowest dose. I slowly quit it after 8 weeks and experienced all the negative symptoms from brain zaps to upset stomach to increased sweating. I’ve tried other SSRIs over the past 15 years but none seemed to benefit me, and all gave me side effects.
Should I give Wellbutrin (Bupropion) a try? I used it twice over the past two decades but no longer have records on why I quit them. I recall not having sexual side effects on it, but perhaps it made me more irritable / anxious. Is there perhaps another medication that is more geared on dopamine reuptake inhibition and less so on norepinephrine? My social anxiety and general high-stress exhaustion would probably go into overdrive if I keep more norepinephrine in my system.

2021.12.05 08:05 Ace-of-clubs- Terrible experience with meepo and the new meepo hurricane

Bought my first ever esk8 from meepo (the hurricane). I bought the board literally 10 minutes after release so I got the “old” ESC. At first, the board was perfectly fine, only issue was that it only went 28, not 35MPH.
They sent me an email saying because I got the older model ESC, they were sending me a new free ESC, charging baseplate, and remote. Ok cool. The day the parts arrived, I installed them immediately, and that’s when the problems started.
First, the videos they sent weren’t very clear and were hard to follow as this was my first esk8 and didn’t know much about the internals, so the installation was hard but I eventually figured it out. After installation, I tried charging the board but when I plugged it in, the charge port sparked so I took it out. Also, when I plugged in the yellow cables into the battery from the ESC, they also made a spark-type (popping sound maybe?) noise but with no spark. Also the charger never turns green even after I charge the board for about 4 hours. Note: charger was working perfectly before installing the new ESC.
So I tried pairing the board and it worked for a mere 30 seconds before both the board shut off and the remote disconnected. I tried unplugging all the cables and putting them back together then tried pairing the board again. Again shut off after 30 seconds.
I then contacted meepo support and their CS is horrible, they responded asking for a video of my problem which I sent them and then they ghosted me for over a week. So I sent them another email and they asked if it worked while plugged in and I said yes but it stills sparks when I plug it in which is a fire hazard which I’m worried about.
At this point I just wanna ride the dang thing so I take out the new ESC and charging base plate and install the old parts. It does the exact same thing. Board shuts off after 30 seconds and remote disconnects.
Fast forward to today and I’m upset and wanna return this thing so I called the CC company and they said they legally have to wait 45 days without a response until they can go through with a chargeback. I’m also really hoping if I do return the board, meepo won’t make me ship a 35 pound board all the way back to China because that would cost ALOT of money.
Honestly not sure if/when I return this board I’ll buy another because of the terrible experience. If I do buy another esk8 it will probably be the ownboard Zeus or eovan GTS carbon.
Anyways this is my experience so far and a warning to everyone thinking about buying the hurricane. Also I’ll probably post an update whenever something happens.

2021.12.05 08:05 RGB123098 A very long list of weird things LS says that new members of the church may not know

A very long list of weird things LS says that new members of the church may not know There are a couple of posts here that do a pretty good job at explaining LS's philosophy, but I noticed in the AMA that lots of people don't fully understand what he's saying since he uses weird words that nobody else in the scene uses. It's even worse on his streams, so new viewers may not understand him. Even the non-technical terms can be confusing if you're an international fan (like me!) and English isn't your first language. And while LS is very smart, he is very long-winded and takes forever to get to the point.
I'm not very good at League or in Magic: The Gathering, his go-to comparison, but I've watched his content for years and will try to explain some of the words he uses to help new churchgoers. This is mostly simplified and is only meant to give a basic understanding. Please comment if something is unclear or wrong!
The Scripture:
  • Critical thinking
    • Definition: observing a certain situation, analyzing it, and making a decision based on your analysis
    • League application: if you only learn one thing from this post, let it be this. Critical thinking is the foundation of LS's approach to the game. Read the situation, think, and come up with the best solution. Let's say we need an AP jungler who can compete with Hecarim's clear speed and can work with a dive comp. We decide to pick Lilia. We play the game and have enough gold to buy a Mythic. Do we buy Liandry's or Everfrost? The answer is Moonstone Renewer. Sure, we lose out on damage, but we don't need it because we're already playing a dive comp that should already have plenty of damage. Killing something 0.5 seconds faster shouldn't make a difference. What we do need is healing, to ensure that our team can survive for long enough to kill the opponents. So, we buy Moonstone. This sounds crazy and pretty stupid, but Inspired did just that in a competitive game. Look at how much healing he did with one item, and remember that he has the same CC and speed of a Lilia with Liandry's, just with less damage. LS came up with this idea through critical thinking. There are so many more applications. Enemy has lots of auto-attackers? Pick Malphite, buy Frozen Heart and Randuin's Omen. Are we playing a Protect the Kog'Maw comp vs Fizz and Syndra? Have him buy Spirit Visage, make your tank buy Knight's Vow, and make your Lulu buy Moonstone and take Revitalize. These seem like silly, inconsequential things, but they add quickly up.
  • Contextual
    • Definition: in a specific case; situational.
    • League application: taking the second Rift Herald is bad in general because by the time it spawns, turret plates are down and it gives you less gold and exp than your normal jungle camps. But what if you have Cho'Gath top who wants to stack his ult? What if you have a Yone mid who wants to stack Legend: Tenacity? What if you have a Karthus jungle with all his camps cleared and no good gank targets? In this context, it's good to take Herald. When LS says you should always/never do something, he means it in general, but everything is contextual.
  • Sinner (sinning)
    • Definition: started off as a meme, is now a semi-serious term to describe any champion that must get ahead early and snowball or be irrelevant. Sinning is a verb that refers to anything that a champion does to achieve that snowball.
    • League application: examples of sinners are Olaf, Lee Sin, Renekton. Examples of sinning are invades and doing risky ganks that should work but is not guaranteed to.
  • Saint
    • Definition: the opposite of a sinner. Any champ that can sit back and scale or have a terrible early game and still be impactful, guaranteed.
    • League application: refers to champs that scale or champs that can snowball but don't really need to (like Gangplank or Evelynn). If a saint defeats a sinner, the sinner is said to be purified.
  • Aggro, control, ramp
    • Def: these are types of decks in Magic: The Gathering (MTG). A simplistic definition: aggro is aggressive, control is defensive, ramp is scaling/outpacing your opponent
    • League application: drafting a comp with Kalista, Thresh, Renekton, is aggro. Drafting GP, Ezreal, Graves, is somewhat control.
  • Curve
    • Definition: in MTG, you play cards. To play cards, you need mana. To get mana, you need lands. Each player can only play one land per turn. Therefore, you only have one mana available in turn one, 2 in turn 2, etc. The ideal situation is to play cards that cost 1 mana on turn one, 2 mana turn two, etc. To make this more likely to happen, a deck must include a lot of 1 mana cards, a little less 2 mana cards, a little less 3 mana cards, and so on. Decks will therefore look like this:
Hence why it's called a curve
  • Curve (continued)
    • You might wonder why you have to do this at all. Why not just use 1 mana cost cards to guarantee that you can always play cards? Why include 6 mana cards if they're hard to play? For the simple reason that the costlier cards are usually more powerful and can end a game. 6 cards that cost 1 mana is not always better than 1 card that costs 6 mana.
    • League application: say you want to build an Hourglass and already have a stopwatch. Should you buy the other components and finish the item? Not really. Hourglass has an active, AP, and armor, which you can all get from the components. If you build Hourglass, it'll be like you're stuck with component items until you build another item, which is like being stuck playing 1 mana cost cards when your opponent is already playing 2 mana cost cards. It's better to buy stopwatch and then build components for another item - say, Void Staff - effectively giving you Hourglass, minus the armor, but making progress on another item. Hence, a better curve.
  • Stifle
    • Definition: to slow down or deny an opponent's plan
    • League application: denying Kindred marks, preventing enemy recalls to delay item spikes, etc.
  • Accelerate
    • Definition: to speed up.
    • League application: quickly taking towers, allowing you to get plates, rotate, get item completions/spikes, and achieve your game plan faster.
  • Inevitability
    • Definition: if nothing happens in the match (no kills or major objectives) and your team will eventually beat or outscale your opponent, your team has inevitability.
    • League application: say you're playing Draven ADC with Leona support vs Kog'Maw and Lulu. In this matchup, you are the aggro and your opponent is the control. So, you have to play aggressive to win via snowball while your opponent must play defensive to win via outscaling. The opponent has inevitability, so you must deny it.
  • Who's the beatdown?
    • This is a very important concept but can be hard to explain. The best way to understand is to watch LS's video or read the article he's referencing. I'll do my best to explain briefly, but it's not the same as reading on your own. Essentially, in every matchup, be it lane matchup or draft matchup, there must be 1 aggro and 1 control. Knowing whether you're the aggro comp or the control comp dictates how you will play the game.
    • League application: say you're playing Draven with Leona, but this time, your opponent is playing Kalista Thresh. Both are aggro. Does that mean it's a skill matchup? Not really. While Draven is an aggro champion, in this context, he is the control, because he has inevitability. Even if he falls behind, he generates gold with his passive, he has CC on a basic ability, and he can reliably stack Tear to build Muramana. Therefore, Kalista is the beatdown, and thus Draven is the control and does not have to play as aggressive as he usually does.
  • Line (winning, losing)
    • Definition: a 'line' is a series of decisions or 'plays'. A 'winning line' is a play that will eventually have positive results, a 'losing line', the opposite.
    • League application: let's say you just aced the opponents. You can go for Baron or Soul. Getting either is a winning line, but getting both is the most winning line. Let's say Herald is about to spawn and all plates are up. You think there will be a big fight, so you rotate your entire team to secure the objective. This may seem like a winning line, but if the opponent's botlane stayed bot to farm waves and get 1-2 plates, and the enemy jungle farms his camps, then they will net more gold and exp than the three plates or 1 tower you can get from Herald. Therefore, this is a losing line.
  • Power through
    • Definition: to rush an item
  • B1, R1R2, B2B3, ... , R5
    • These are abbreviations. They're short for Blue side pick one (first pick), Red side picks 1 and 2, Blue side picks 2 and 3, ... , Red side pick 5 (last pick).
  • Getting value
    • Definition: benefiting from something.
    • League application: Overheal isn't a great rune, but if you're playing Graves with Fleet Footwork, Shieldbow, and Bloodthirster, then you will very often proc Overheal, therefore getting more value out of it. On the other hand, let's say you're playing Lethality Varus and the opponent has a Shieldbow. You can buy Serpent's Fang and get some value, but not a lot if there's no other shielding on the enemy team, and so it's not really worth it. This is why LS hates Morellonomicon so much. Usually there's not enough healing to get value out of it.
  • Pivot
    • Definition: to move from one position to another
    • League application: let's say we're in draft vs TL. We B1 Gangplank. They respond with Kai'Sa and Leona. We pick Lucian and Braum. They pick Lee Sin and Diana. In this situation, TL has locked themselves into one position: they must play a dive comp and can no longer pivot out of it. Even if they pick a poke champ like Zoe, it will be off-theme and offers less value. On the other hand, we still have options. We can continue drafting a disengage comp with Kindred and Lulu, or we can pivot into a poke comp with Karthus and Jayce, or pivot into a dive comp with Fiddlesticks and Yone.
  • Lock-in
    • Definition: to be stuck in one position.
    • League application: in the above example, TL is locked-in to a dive comp.
  • Conditional
    • Definition: requiring a specific scenario to function.
    • League application: sure, Yasuo can dash, but it's conditional because it requires a target. Darius can do a lot of damage, but it's conditional because he has to be close to them.
  • Enable
    • Definition: to make something possible
    • League application: the most common enablers are enchanters like Lulu and Karma, because it helps champions like Darius, Sett, and Nasus reach their targets via healing, speed ups, and reliable ranged CC. Those champs are strong but easy to kite and thus, usually cannot function. But with enchanters, they enable them to function. One example is the GenG vs DRX match in LCK Summer 2021, where Lulu enabled Xin Zhao, who proceeded to carry the game.
  • Justify
    • Definition: to motivate a decision or action
    • League application: Olaf is a sinner and therefore bad, but it's contextual. He doesn't scale, but if he has an enchanter like Lulu to enable him, then he doesn't need to. But why Olaf? Why not something like Xin Zhao, who has a reliable dash and CC? Again, it's contextual. If the enemy team relies on CC to stay alive, with Xayah, Rakan, Orianna, Lulu, etc., then you need someone who can be unstoppable. Thus, Olaf is justified.
  • Utility
    • Definition: usefulness
    • League applications: a champion has utility if they can do something other than damage. Champions like Kai'Sa and Akshan have no CC and therefore have limited to no utility. But that doesn't mean that Lee Sin and Renekton have utility. They can kick and stun, but it's unreliable. You need to get in close, usually blow a flash, or rely on a pick. They mainly just do damage. Therefore, they offer little utility.
  • Deductive reasoning
    • Definition: making predictions based on the available evidence. This is what Sherlock Holmes does, but of course that's unrealistic and extreme
    • League applications: you know that botlane will push their wave. The enemy jungler knows it too. He can also clear very quickly. Therefore, we can use deductive reasoning to assume that he is going to be botside by minute 3:15.
  • Luxury vision
    • Definition: vision that's nice to have but not necessary.
    • League application: you know that the jungler is going to gank you minute 3 or earlier. Do you really need to facecheck that bush and place a deep ward to see him coming? This is luxury vision and unneeded if your deductive reasoning is good enough. It's also part of the reason why LS discourages buying control wards. It sounds silly and very arrogant, but I've seen him consistently track enemy junglers in his co-streams, predicting their pathing down to the exact second.
  • Pilot
    • Definition: to play something, usually a champion. If Fudge is piloting Zoe, then he's playing Zoe. Just a weird choice of words on LS's part.
That's everything off the top of my head. I have to go walk my dog now. If there's anything unclear or any other term not found here, please comment them and I'll add it to the list. Thanks for reading!

2021.12.05 08:05 a2197 Lack of professionalism rant because literally ANYONE can do anything at Amazon including abusing power!! Please read and give opinions

Today I was working with a young girl had to be 19/20. I saw an AM come up to her all day several times. He would talk to her real low very very close to her, rubbing up against her while speaking blah blah you can obviously tell he likes her. It seemed to me she was uncomfortable, but he is our boss so what can you really say besides smile and let it go? Anyways This man has got to be 40/50 years old.. Then at the end of the night he took her phone out her back pocket obviously put his number into it and slid it back into her pocket. So if you’re not giving the AMs your number or sucking their you know what you’ll get no where in this company. The second you say no you really think you have any chance of moving up anymore. It’s just insane to me the lack of professionalism I see every day.
I’ve had an AM prior to this occasion write his number on a piece of paper and give it to me and I said I’m married and he left me alone.. I’m saying it feels like you’re forced to say yes because if I say no to talking to you it’ll hinder me at my job. Being a women at Amazon is awful and I cannot wait until my time is up.

As a grave yard worker, I typically play during off hours.
You can find Chads at all hours of the day, but man, the sweat lords definitely have a witching hour during prime time when they come out.
The cost of ammo double or triples.
BP went from 1g to 2, which was insane to me.
I wanted to learn labs, so I got on discord and met a dude who mained labs and would teach me.
We got our cakes clapped about 5x in a row before I threw in the towel.
I had dudes hitting some wild left hand running peeks with 1 taps via m995.This shit was just insane!!
The guy told me it’s usually not this bad, but with a combo of end of wipe and prime time, we just got fucked.
It was a crazy experience compared to my normal hours anyway.
Anyone else see the difference in prime time?
